28th June to 5th July 2021
Following the very disappointing cancellations of our trip to Turkey this year I am now very happy to announce the dates for 2021.
2021 is especially exciting as one of my very favourite tutors, and friend Monica Voss has decided to take the week immediately following on from my week so if you would like a double week of wonderful yoga then perhaps book both weeks. Timings permitting, I am sure we will be doing some interactive teaching during the two weeks. Check Monica’s website for details: https://www.estheryoga.com/events/yoga-holiday-in-turkey/
Where will I be staying?
The Yuva Eco Centre yoga retreat is perched on a hillside, hidden in pine woodlands and overlooking the sea.
It is run by the wonderful Atilla Sevilmis and his family who have offered yoga holidays in Turkey since 1998.
There are hot water showers, flushing loos and comfy beds.
You’ll also love the shaded yoga platform with its gorgeous sea views.
This will be the eleventh time I have taken a group to this area of Turkey and the third visit to this venue where I have got to know the whole family very well and where the needs of my groups are well understood and catered for by the hosts.
Food: Eco Yuva specialises in healthy home-made and locally sourced vegetarian and vegan food. Organic fruit and vegetables from their own garden are used when available. Specialist diets are extensively catered for.
Drinks: Bottled mineral is provided at mealtimes and is available from a water cooler at other times. Guests are encouraged to re-fill bottles from the water cooler to reduce plastic waste. A small charge is made for water at the end of the week.
Tea, herbal tea and instant coffee are provided at no additional cost. Turkish coffee is made to order and is charged extra. Wine, beer and other alcoholic drinks can be purchased at mealtimes.
Wi-Fi and mobile phones: The venu has a free Wi-Fi connection available in the top terrace area near the office, and mobile phones usually work well.
For more details of the venue https://www.ecofaralya.com/
There are 2 beautiful yoga platforms with stunning views over the sea and forest rolling down to the sea. Built from cedar and local pine it can accommodate up to 25 people. It has a grass covering to
provide plenty of shade to keep students cool and comfortable.
The intention for the week at Faralya Hotel is for students to have the opportunity and the time to look at aspects of their practice in depth and to develop an approach of self-enquiry and selfknowledge.
The classes are adaptable and encompass students of all levels of experience and ability. Whilst looking at traditional Hatha Yoga postures and pranayamas, we will be encouraging fun and freedom within the traditional structure.
Two to three yoga classes will be offered each day – early-morning, mid-morning and early evening (except on the full excursion day), all of which are optional and are designed around the requests and abilities of those taking part.
The holiday is open to beginners as well as experienced practitioners, but I do suggest that you have worked with me to some extent prior to the holiday.
How much is it?
It’s £625 per person based on single accommodation. You can reduce the cost by £60 for shared rooms (team up with a friend before booking). Rooms are limited and first come first served.
Included in the price are: • Two to three daily yoga and meditation classes • breakfast and dinner on seven days and lunch on five days.
• Flights to and from Dalaman airport
• Transfers to and from Dalaman airport (approximately £30 – £50 for the return journey)
• Meals additional to those specified
• Turkish coffee, wine/beer
• Additional excursions and trips
• Massage therapy treatments (approximately £40)
• Turkish visa (US$20)
• Travel insurance
I suggest you allow £200 – £250 for transfers and other local costs.
What else is there to do?
• Fabulous full day boat trip £45/£50
• Exquisite and professional massage therapy £60)
• Visit the local hammam and shops
• Nearby walks and beaches
Travel Arrangements, Visas and Insurance
Flights: The nearest airport is Dalaman which is about one and a half hours’ drive from Faralya. The recommended flight is:
Outward from Stanstead to Dalaman: 28th June at 7.15am TOM618
Return from Dalaman to Stanstead: 5th July at 14.25pm TOM619
If you are travelling from another airport, I suggest that you choose outward and return flights with arrival and departure times within one hour of the recommended flights, so that you can join the group transfer and avoid additional private transfer costs (see below).
If you are planning to stay for the second week with Monica Voss then of course you will find the same return flights are likely to be available the following week (12th July).
Travelling to your departure airport: I can email to you a contact list of the other students attending the yoga week a month before departure so that you can coordinate transport and share cars where possible.
Arrival and transfers from Dalaman airport: Our hosts arrange safe, reliable transfers from and to Dalaman Airport. The journey from Dalaman Airport to the Faralya Hotel takes about one hour and 30 minutes. I suggest that you travel on the recommended flights (or coordinate your flight times) so that you can join the group transfer in order to avoid you incurring additional private transfer costs.
Transfers to and from Dalaman airport will be approximately £30 – £50 for the return journey depending on whether you join the group transfer or require a private transfer.
If you are not travelling on the recommended flight, but have coordinated your flight time to join the group transfer, and your flight is delayed by more than one hour, we will arrange a private transfer at additional cost to you. If your flight is delayed by more than one hour, please call or text Irmak at Yuva on 0090 5335799794 with your new arrival time.
Transfers for late-night flight arrivals (arriving Dalaman 23.30hrs – 06.00hrs) and early-morning departures (departing Dalaman 02.00hrs – 09.30hrs) will incur a £10 per vehicle supplement each way.
Meet-up arrangements at Dalaman: On exiting the airport through the glass doors, walk straight on down the ramp into the car/bus park. You will see a cafe on your left; straight ahead is a large circular area with the big tour company booths and transfer drivers at the edge of the circle. Your driver will have a sign with “Eco Yuva” and it is possible that he may be waiting towards the back of the circle.
The meeting area can be busy, so if you do not see your driver immediately please spend at least ten minutes in this area. If you do not find your driver after this time please call or text Irmak at Yuva on 0090 5335799794.
There may be a short wait while other flights arrive.
Insurance: All students must have their own travel insurance and bring a copy of their insurance certificate with them. Travel insurance should provide full cover in case of illness or accident, emergency medical and travel expenses in Turkey and repatriation.
Passports: Your passport must be valid at least for 6 months from the date you enter Turkey.
Turkish visas: You will need to obtain a visa online before departure to permit entry into Turkey at the airport (currently US$20 for UK citizens).
Please ensure that you use the official Republic of Turkey visa application site (https://www.evisa.gov.tr/en) to purchase your visa as there are a number of non-official sites which will charge a large service fee in addition to the cost of the visa.
